Local-first AI passport

Your AI already knows you.Don’t start over.

Turn your AI conversations into a portable identity that works across the AI tools you use.

Runs in your browser · No account · You approve every memory

Example: a specimen Passport, and a suggested memory — “Prefers answers that lead with the code” — shown with the message it came from and Approve, Edit and Reject controls.

The problem

Everything your AI learned about you stays where you left it.

Switching assistants shouldn’t mean starting from zero. Today it usually does.

Your context is locked in one assistant

Months of conversations taught one AI your job, your projects and your habits. Another assistant can’t see any of it.

You re-explain yourself to every new AI

Who you are, what you’re building, how you like answers written — typed out again from scratch each time you switch tools.

Memories you can’t fully check

Built-in memory is a summary each assistant keeps for itself. It isn’t designed to show which of your own words each memory came from, and it stays behind when you leave.

How it works

Four steps, all on your side of the screen.

A few minutes of your time, plus however long your AI provider takes to send your export.

Example of the import screen: reading conversations and organising history are done, the searchable archive is being built, and finding memories and preparing the Passport are next.

01 · Import

Bring your history in, without uploading it.

Request your export from ChatGPT, Claude or Google, then add the file here. It is opened inside this browser tab and saved in the browser’s own storage on your device.

  • Add several files at once — multi-part exports go together
  • Importing the same file again never creates duplicates
  • Edited prompts and regenerated answers are kept as separate versions
Example of a suggested memory, “Prefers answers that lead with the code”, with the highlighted sentence it came from and Approve, Edit and Reject controls.

02 · Review

Every memory shows the words it came from.

Mitigate AI suggests memories — your projects, preferences, how you like answers written — and links each one to the sentence you wrote. Approve, edit or reject; nothing goes into your Passport until you approve it.

  • Only your own messages count as evidence — never the AI’s replies
  • A rejected suggestion stays rejected when you import again
  • Passwords, keys and ID numbers are never exported
Example of the Claude export screen: a memory list and response preferences to copy, and the checked instruction for where to paste them in Claude’s settings.

03 · Export

Take it to Claude, ChatGPT or Gemini.

Your approved Passport is turned into text shaped for each tool, with step-by-step instructions for where to paste it. Nothing is sent for you — you stay in control of every copy.

  • Claude and Gemini: paste into their own memory import, where your account and country have it
  • ChatGPT: trimmed to fit its custom instructions (1,500 characters on Free)
  • Or keep a Markdown, plain-text, JSON or .mitigate file
Example of a desktop AI app calling the local Mitigate connector: get_identity returns the approved profile, and search_memories finds matching approved memories.

04 · Connect

Or connect it live, on your computer.

AI apps on your computer that support MCP — such as Claude Desktop, Claude Code and Cursor — can look things up in your approved Passport through a small connector that runs on your own machine.

  • It can never change your Passport — at most, if you allow it, leave a suggestion for you to review
  • Runs locally from your exported Passport file — nothing is hosted
  • Web and phone apps can’t use it: they only accept hosted servers

Privacy by architecture

What stays, and what moves.

Your AI history is personal. Mitigate AI works on it where it already is — on your device — and is plain about the limits.

Your Passport

Approved memories only

Ready to copy, download or serve locally.

The AI tools you choose

You paste text or upload a file yourself, or a desktop app reads your Passport through the local connector.

Stays on this device

  • Your imported conversations
  • The searchable archive built from them
  • Every suggested memory, approved or not
  • Everything you exclude or reject

Kept in this browser’s own storage. There is no Mitigate AI account and no server copy.

Leaves only when you export

  • A Passport file you choose to download
  • Text you copy into another AI tool
  • Only memories you approved — never unreviewed suggestions
  • Never passwords, keys or ID numbers, even if they appear in a chat

You see exactly what is included before anything is copied or saved.

What we never do

  • Write into ChatGPT’s, Claude’s or Gemini’s built-in memory for you
  • Delete anything from your original AI provider
  • Load trackers, analytics or third-party scripts
  • Use your conversations to train AI models

Browsers can clear site storage, so keep your original export files as a backup.

Try with sample data
What comes across, and what doesn’t?

What moves is the understanding: who you are, what you’re working on, your goals and decisions, and how you like answers written — as memories you have approved, each linked to the words you wrote.

Your original conversations don’t move, and neither does another assistant’s internal memory. Attachment contents (images, PDFs) aren’t imported either; their names are listed so you can see what was there.

Is my data uploaded anywhere?

No. Your export file is opened inside this browser tab and saved in the browser’s own storage on this device. There is no Mitigate AI account and no server copy.

Something leaves your device only when you do it: downloading your Passport, or copying text into another AI tool. Even then, only memories you approved are included — never passwords, keys or ID numbers.

Does this change what ChatGPT or Claude remembers?

Not by itself. Mitigate AI can’t write into any assistant’s memory. It prepares text in the shape each tool accepts and shows you exactly where to paste it.

Claude and Gemini have a memory import box you can paste into, though not on every account: Gemini’s needs a personal Google account and isn’t offered in the UK, the EEA or Switzerland, and Claude calls its import experimental. ChatGPT has no memory import, so the text goes into its Personalization settings instead, trimmed to fit: custom instructions allow 1,500 characters on Free and Go, 5,000 on paid plans.

How is this different from an assistant’s own memory import?

Those import boxes accept text — someone still has to write it. Mitigate AI drafts it from the conversations you import, shows the sentence each memory came from, and lets you approve, edit or reject every line first.

Gemini can also take your original ChatGPT or Claude export file directly. Google says chats imported that way are saved to your activity and used to improve its services, including training its models. Mitigate AI reads your export on your device instead.

Your Passport is yours, not part of one assistant. You can use it with several tools, update it when things change, and keep a copy as a file.

What if my browser clears its storage?

Keep your original export files. Importing the same file again never creates duplicates, so you can rebuild your archive at any time. The Privacy page shows whether your browser has agreed to keep this site’s data.

What does it cost?

Nothing in this version. There’s no account, no payment step and no subscription: importing, searching, reviewing and exporting all run in your browser.

Start with the history you already have.

No export yet? Try it first with synthetic sample conversations, then bring in your own.
